அழுக்கா றுடையான்கண் ஆக்கம்போன்று இல்லை ஒழுக்க மிலான்கண் உயர்வு.

பொறாமை உடையவனிடத்தில் ஆக்கம் இல்லாதவாறு போல, ஒழுக்கம் இல்லாதவனுடைய வாழ்க்கையில் உயர்வு இல்லையாகும்.

பொறாமை உள்ளவனுக்குச் செல்வம் இல்லை என்பது போல், ஒழுக்கம் இல்லாதவனுக்கு உயர்குலம் என்பதும் இல்லை.

பொறாமையுடையவனுக்கும், நல்லொழுக்கமில்லாதவனுக்கும் அமையும் வாழ்வு, உயர்வான வாழ்வாகக் கருதப்பட மாட்டாது

Just as the envious man will be without wealth, so will the man of destitute of propriety of conduct be without greatness.
